Today’s Kaizer Chiefs transfer wrap includes a fascinating revelation about the transfer market from Mr Motaung Jr. There’s also news on an exciting new defender.

Motaung Jr says the club’s best player isn’t for sale

Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has spilt the tea on how the transfer market works.

“To be fair, I don’t even entertain that we’re here all the other clubs are our partners. We are stakeholders in the league, we need each other. They need us. We need them. And it’s a situation of us coming to negotiations,” Motaung JR reported to iDiski Times.

“They always will have their standpoint. They want to keep their best players. If you had to ask me, anybody coming to ask, you know, ‘sell us Shabalala’, I would say, No.

“It’s part of negotiations, it’s part of the industry, it’s part of the business. They have goals they want to achieve. We have ours. So it’s about us engaging in a positive way and trying our best to achieve the goals.

“So we respect them and respect they respect us. And it’s part of the industry, and you find that, you know, worldwide.”

Chiefs target young left-back

Experienced full-back Bongani Sam was expected to replace the departed Sifiso Hlanti but his Chiefs tenure so far has been a bit of a disaster, owing mainly to injuries. 27-year-old Sam joined in August and is yet to make his senior competitive debut. The club is now monitoring former Pirates academy product, 20-year-old Samukelo Kabini. He currently plies his trade for TS Galaxy and has shown an eye for adventure with two goals from 12 league appearances this term.

Life is better for Dithejane after Chiefs

Puso Dithejane and Unathi Mdaka were released owing to misconduct over ball-boy duties in October 2023. Now 20, Dithejane has thrived in the number 10 role for TS Galaxy but can also operate in several roles on their right flank. He was integral to their sixth-place finish last term and this season he’s made 10 league appearances, notching up a goal and an assist.
