Monnapule Saleng talks heat up

Orlando Pirates attacker Monnapule Saleng has missed most of the season amid a four-month standoff over salary demands.

The 27-year-old looked set for an offseason exit, but after being spotted in successive training sessions for the first time this year, there is renewed optimism about his future at the club.

Domestically, Saleng hasn’t featured since early December last year – a hiatus that could end before the end of the season as he returns to match fitness.

Mabasa wanted

Championship side Sunderland is monitoring Orlando Pirates duo Tshegofatso Mabasa and Thalente Mbatha.

“It’s the same club [Sunderland] interested in another Pirates player, Thalente Mbatha. It’s believed that when the scouts came to look at Mbatha they were also happy with Mabasa, and they had to assess him further in other games and apparently they were happy and they have enquired about him. So, Sunderland are the club interested in Tshegofatso Mabasa,” SoccerLaduma concluded.

Meanwhile, Bafana boss Hugo Broos has predicted this to Relebohile Mofokeng’s last season with Orlando Pirates amid substantial foreign interest.

“Talking about Mofokeng, I just hope that he makes the right decisions. And that he is not going to a team where he won’t play,” Broos told iDiski Times.

“I see all the things around, Barcelona and Rangers and… (sighs) I’m a little bit afraid. I just hope that the people around make the choice of the best sportive solution and not the best financial solution,

“Okay, I think his parents want the best for him, that’s for sure. But there is another guy who wants to win a lot of money also, but that’s the problem. But ok, let’s hope, maybe I talked too soon about that,

“We’ll see. I think in June, Rele will not be a player of Orlando Pirates anymore, but a good choice is very important.”
