Mokwena, Mosimane, Mofokeng, R75.5 million

Orlando Pirates are three games away from Champions League glory, a feat they haven’t achieved in thirty years.

Egyptian giants Pyramids FC, led by the prolific Fiston Mayele, stand in their way of a final berth, which would entail facing either Mamelodi Sundowns or Al Ahly – both have suffered defeats at the hands of Jose Riveiro this year.

Lifting the trophy will trigger a R75.5 million purse, a handy boost for the upcoming offseason window.

Rumours within the club

  • Orlando Pirates have shortlisted Rulani Mokwena and Pitso Mosimane as Riveiro’s replacement. As things stand, it’s the former who the Soweto giants want most.
  • Relebohile Mofokeng will undoubtedly have several clubs attempting to lure him in the winter. Egyptian giants Zamalek FC had a R25.8 million bid rejected in January.

New player in the ranks

According to reports, the Buccaneers have promoted DDC star Yanga Madiba.

“They have already made that decision. For now, it’s as good as done, and it’s believed to be a three-year contract which would apparently run from July this year until June 2028,” Soccer Laduma stated.

“He is still young, and they want him to grow and gain experience while learning from the older players.”

Another source confirmed the news, saying, “Yes, there are other left backs that the club is looking at to sign but they need to have their own development players in the squad as well just like other youngsters and that’s why they have offered him a three-year contract which is as good as done which is good for both the club and the player.”
