Mofokeng in ‘advanced talks’ with North Africa, Kimvuidi exit nears

Orlando Pirates are having a bizarre summer window.

Sitting second on the log with an MTN8 Cup already to their name, it’s been an excellent start to the season for the Buccaneers, made even sweeter by their first-place finish in the Champions’ League group stages.

They’re firing on all cylinders on the field, but one can’t say the same for behind the scenes.

According to reports, Wydad Casablanca has approached Relehobile Mofokeng, while Karim Kimvuidi has requested to leave in order to get more playing time.

Mofokeng update

“Wydad Athletic are in advanced negotiations with South African club Orlando Pirates over the potential signing of 20-year-old striker Relebohile Mofokeng according to Moroccan media,” SoccerLaduma reported.

“According to Moroccan publication Lesiteinfo Wydad have made a tempting financial offer to Pirates for the young forward, with the South African club reportedly leaning towards accepting the bid,

“Mofokeng, who is considered one of South Africa’s brightest rising stars, is said to be open to the prospect of working under his compatriot, Rulani Mokwena, at Wydad. However, while the offer from Wydad is enticing, a move at this stage seems unlikely.”

Kimvuidi update

Orlando Pirates are only willing to let the 22-year-old leave on loan as they see a big future for Kimvuidi.

The attacking-midfielder is happy to do so, but wants to experience soccer outside of the PSL – several African clubs are circling.

“Kimvuidi is one of those players one might say is unfortunate because despite being so talented he finds himself in an environment where he is competing with stars for a position, and it has been difficult for him to break into the team,” SoccerLaduma stated.

“He is a good player who can do very well at any other club but unfortunately, he is limited for game time where he is because of the competition.”

Will Orlando Pirates tremble without Mofokeng?
