MK PARTY BARS TRUCK FROM COLLECTING ZANZOU’S STOCK AND EQUIPMENT

Several groups and political parties, including the Economic Freedom Fighters and Civil Society movement Not In My Name International, have since called for the immediate closure of Zanzou.

On the other hand, the police have since made it known that investigations are underway and urged victims to come forward.

National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the police condemned the alleged abuse.

However, General Fannie Masemola has informed that the police are investigating several potential offences committed at Zanzou.

“The police are at this stage looking at various offences that have been committed, including assault, assault GBH, crimen injuria, and kidnapping,” the police noted.

The nightclub also noted that it was aware of the trending videos and has since launched an investigation against the bouncers.

“At the time when management became aware of these practices, an immediate investigation was conducted, which resulted in the immediate halting of such as well as the dismissal of security personnel responsible,” reads part of the statement.

Against the news, photos and videos of a truck stopped trying to collect the nightclub’s stock and equipment have gone viral.

One of the now-viral videos shared on X by EWN Reporterwas captioned, “Zanzou management has sent a truck to collect all its stock and equipment.”

“This after the Pretoria nightclub was exposed for torturing patrons in a video supposedly shot in 2023 @JusstAlpha.”

The publication has also established that the uMkhonto weSizwe’s (MK) student movement barred the truck from entering the premises.

The police later secured the nightclub as a ‘crime scene’ following Zanzou management’s attempts to retrieve its stock and equipment.

STEPHANE COHEN DISTANCES HIMSELF FROM THE NIGHTCLUB

However, against the news, Stephane Cohen, the nightclub’s rumoured owner, released a statement denying ownership claims.

Part of the press release noted, “However, I must also address the false and dangerous misinformation being spread about me. The claim that I am the ‘owner’ of Zanzou is categorically false.”

He added, “Many years ago, I was a silent strategic partner in business investment, but I have had no role – operational, managerial, or otherwise – in the nightclub for years. I have not set foot in Zanzou in a very long time.”
