Many Microsoft Windows 10 users will be affected soon when it no longer receives the needed software and security updates.

According to Microsoft, all of its Windows 10 users need to upgrade to Windows 11 before their deadline set for this year. Find out when you will need to do the necessary upgrade if you are affected.

MICROSOFT WINDOWS 10 END OF SUPPORT DEADLINE

Microsoft Windows users who fail to upgrade to Windows 11 could expose their computers to malware, viruses and other threats, reported MyBroadband on 9 December 2024.

Therefore, it’s crucial to upgrade to the latest Windows 11 in order to stay protected. The deadline for when these upgrades need to be completed by is 14 October 2025.

This Microsoft operating system is reportedly the most popular operating system among all the versions made. Of the more than one billion Microsoft Windows users worldwide, over 62% of them use Windows 10.

USERS URGED NOT TO WAIT UNTIL OCTOBER

IT security expert at ESET, Thorsten Urbanski, has warned that users need to do the upgrade as soon as possible, reported Beta News on 5 January 2025.

“It’s five minutes to midnight to prevent a security fiasco in 2025. We strongly urge users not to wait until October. Upgrade to Windows 11 now or choose an alternative operating system if your device cannot support the latest version. Otherwise, users are exposing themselves to significant security risks, including dangerous cyberattacks and data breaches.

“In the worst-case scenario, these computers can become the starting point for data losses, ransomware incidents, or even large-scale cyberattacks. Users and businesses must act now. Waiting until October will be too late to avoid the risks,” expressed Urbanski.
