Nigerian rapper 3GAR Baby – real name Prince Daniel Obioma – claims he is not guilty of reckless driving after crashing his R7 million McLaren in Sea Point over the weekend.

He also claimed that he had a legitimate reason behind the accident, which took place in a residential area. He’s even gone as far as to claim the viral video of his crash was “cut” to make him look bad.

MCLAREN DRIVER SAYS CRASH WAS NOT NEGLIGENT DRIVING

Over the weekend, 3Gar Baby crashed his R7 million McLaren 570S coupe, while speeding down High-Level Road in Sea Point.

The entertainer hails from the Rivers State in Nigeria, but now lives in Cape Town.

According the Atlantic Seaboard Community Forum, the supercar was captured driving 200km/h in CCTV footage taken on Saturday morning.

The muso – behind the wheel – and his brother, a passenger, were injured in the crash.

However, 3Gar has dismissed claims that his driving was negligent or reckless. He also claims that the video was edited.

Responding to a critic under an Instagram post, he shared: “Bro, the video was cut. That’s not what really happened. I was actually avoiding hitting a beggar before I lost control and hit the pavement and still avoided hitting the car in front of me.”

He added: “That wasn’t my initial speed, avoidance of taking a life led to the wrong turn”

Also in the comments section, 3GAR Baby liked comments from followers who praised his designer fashion – a pair of Balenciaga sneaks and a two-piece Louis Vuitton suit worn during the crash.

AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING

Despite seemingly justifying his actions, the public are calling on authorities to take action.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg told The Citizen:“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation. We can confirm that two males were taken to a medical facility for treatment”.
