- Former EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi leaves the party after being accused of disloyalty by party leader Julius Malema.
- Ndlozi says he was unfairly suspended without a hearing just weeks before the party’s conference to choose new leaders.
Former EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has quit the party to become a university lecturer.
Ndlozi’s exit follows months of trouble with EFF leaders, including party boss Julius Malema, who said Ndlozi was not loyal to the party.
The problems started after former EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu left to join Jacob Zuma’s MK Party. Malema was angry that Ndlozi knew about Shivambu’s plan to leave but didn’t inform party leaders.
After Shivambu left, many EFF leaders, MPs, and hundreds of supporters followed him to Zuma’s new party.
Speaking to the SABC on Sunday night, Ndlozi said the party broke its own rules when it suspended him just six weeks before its conference to choose new leaders.
“There was an intelligence report in which they claimed that I am part of the infiltration strategy by the MKP.
“(They said) I’m working with the MKP. I’m planning to join them, and I am waiting for some opportune moment,” he said.
Ndlozi never got a chance to defend himself at a hearing.
The move to suspend him meant he couldn’t take part in the party’s December 2024 conference, where some members wanted to make him deputy president.
