With the drive to replace the Gold Card with another payment option in full swing, the payment of March SASSA grants has left some confused about the receiving of their grants.
Some beneficiaries have took to social media to find out where they should collect their grants after switching payment methods. Others have also complained about experiencing issues with receiving grants for this month.
MARCH SASSA GRANTS PAYMENT DATES
The payment of SASSA grants this month is this week. The agency confirmed the dates for March in social media posts.
Beneficiaries for the older persons grants were scheduled to be paid on 4 March. Disability grants are on 5 March, while the child support grants are to be paid on 6 March.
BENEFICIARIES ON MARCH SASSA GRANT PAYMENTS
With payments having begun for March SASSA grants, some beneficiaries have revealed their experiences in receiving payments after replacing their cards. Here are their comments from SASSA’s post on X.
@ItsMrPaulD: “The new black cards are declining, but the money has been subtracted. This [is] for Older Pension grants today.”
@puja_s27: “Yes & nobody wants to help. Elderly [people] were told to go to SASSA Offices, they were turned away and told to go to Postbank, but all the post offices are closed. The one called says must go back to where the new cards were issued… Headless chickens making senior citizens suffer.”
@Nunus62994065: “My mother got a new black card last month. Her card is not working. No money in her card. Called @africanbank they don’t know. So no pay for her?”
@Oh_really25: “How do you implement things such as the new black card but it doesn’t work. And you don’t make it easy for pensioners. These things need to be thought out properly and thoroughly before launching it.”
‘THERE IS A CRISIS’
Minister of Social Development, Sisisi Tolashe, had previously expressed that Postbank had no plan in place before the March SASSA grants. Tolashe further told MPs on Tuesday, 25 February, that the card replacement situation was “a crisis.”
“Indeed, there is a crisis. It is a crisis because we identified that there seems to be no plan. If there is a plan, I have yet to see it. Myself and the team can say without fear or contradiction that there is no plan,” the minister said.
WHAT DO YOU THINK SHOULD BE DONE TO TRY AND RESOLVE THIS ‘CRISIS’?
