Manaka Ranaka exposes her late daughter’s father

Generations: The Legacy actress Manaka Ranaka has shared a deeply personal account of her experience raising her late daughter, Katlego Ranaka, revealing painful truths about her baby daddy.

The South African star, who also rose to fame in Stokvel, spoke candidly in a recent interview, disclosing that the father of her child, Sipho Lekaba, was never part of their daughter’s life, only showing up after Katlego passed away.

Katlego tragically died on 23 January 2025, leaving her family and fans devastated.

During her memorial service in February, South Africans saw Sipho Lekaba for the first time, as Manaka publicly gifted him a portrait of their daughter.

It was a moment that sparked discussion and emotion, as many were unaware of his absence throughout Katlego’s life.

In the heartfelt interview with Drum Magazine, Manaka revealed that she is a mother of three children by two different fathers.

Of the two men, she confirmed one was entirely absent from her eldest daughter’s life.

“I raised her alone for 24 years,” she said.

The TV star, who has recently been announced as the host of the upcoming show Eyamadoda, did not hold back about the hurt caused by her daughter’s father’s absence.

Despite being absent for more than two decades, he made an appearance only when it was too late.

Social media reacted strongly to the news and the painful story behind it.

A user, @KabeloBannister, shared their own grief, saying: “Losing a child is the worst thing ever. I lost my 29-year-old son on the 18th of January 2025. I’m so hurt; I’m in a difficult situation. I’m only asking for your prayers.”

Another user, @Wahaenne, empathized with Manaka’s situation.

“Ngapha it’s folk taking photos of her every 2 minutes to go write about how she looks. Stru bakithi it must be a very tough time for her over and above the fact that she just lost a huge chunk of herself. Being a celebrity really sucks. I pray God gives her strength.”
