Man wanted for allegedly stabbing girlfriend dies by suicide

A Limpopo man wanted for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend has died by suicide. According to IOL, the body of the 41-year-old man from Mavambe village, outside Malamulele, was discovered in the Nkowankowa industrial area on Thursday, 24 April 2025.

The provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said that community members alerted the police about a dead body hanging from a tree.

“Community members alerted police to the scene, where officers arrived to find the body of an African male hanging from a tree. At the time of discovery, the deceased’s identity was unknown,” said Ledwaba.

He said that initial findings revealed that the deceased was a suspect wanted for stabbing his ex-girlfriend, 44-year-old Mihlothi Faith Shikhibana, on Monday, 21 April 2025.

Police have opened an investigation to establish the motive behind the suicide.

BODY OF TUT STUDENT FOUND IN MORGUE

The body of a missing Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) student has been found at a morgue in Pretoria.

The Citizen reported that second-year journalism student Oratile Mothoa had been missing for over a month after taking an e-hailing ride from his Soshanguve campus on 7 March 2025 and never returned.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said the victim’s body was discovered along the N4 freeway in Silverton after allegedly being knocked down by a car.

The university’s Spokesperson, Phaphama Tshisikhawe, extended condolences to the victim’s family on behalf of TUT.

“The University extends its heartfelt condolences to Oratile’s family, friends, and fellow students. TUT is committed to supporting the family and the University community during this difficult time,” Tshisikhawe said.
