MaMkhize to address PSL as club faces expulsion, but is she planning a shocking comeback in Eswatini? Let’s find out.

Royal AM’s time in South Africa’s top-flight football may be coming to a dramatic end, as club owner Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize prepares to attend a critical PSL Board of Governors meeting that could seal the fate of her team.

According to FARPost, the Premier Soccer League will vote on Thursday, 10 April to officially terminate Royal AM’s league membership. This decision follows a firm recommendation from the PSL Executive Committee last week, citing the club’s failure to meet its league obligations.

MaMkhize steps in as Royal AM faces the axe

In a surprising twist, sources close to MaMkhize revealed she has personally requested to be present at the decisive meeting. The gathering is set to take place at the Sandton Convention Centre at 11:00 AM, where MaMkhize is expected to directly address fellow PSL club representatives.

“MaMkhize,” the charismatic and often controversial figure behind Royal AM, is reportedly ready to accept the PSL’s decision and publicly apologize for the chaos that has surrounded her club since December 2024.

Royal AM’s downfall: From the pitch to financial collapse

Royal AM last appeared in a league match on 29 December 2024, suffering a 3-1 defeat to TS Galaxy in the Betway Premiership. Since then, the club has vanished from competition, playing only 11 matches this season—while some rivals have already completed 25 fixtures.

This drastic disparity made it virtually impossible for Royal AM to complete the season, prompting the PSL to suspend all fixtures involving the club in January 2025.

The team’s troubles worsened after SARS seized Royal AM’s assets, leading to the appointment of a curator to manage operations. The PSL demanded financial assurances that never materialized, putting the club on an irreversible path toward expulsion.

Failed takeover leaves club hanging

Hope briefly sparked when Global Investments, a company linked to Durban businessman Chockalingam Roy Moodley, attempted to acquire Royal AM. But the deal crumbled when the winning bidder failed to make payment within the agreed timeframe.Dealing the final blow to the club’s survival chances.

While Royal AM’s PSL journey looks to be ending, MaMkhize’s football ambitions appear far from over.

She was spotted this past weekend in Eswatini, attending the Ingwenyama Cup final between Moneni Pirates and Royal Leopard. Dressed in the colours of Moneni Pirates, her appearance stirred speculation about a possible new partnership, or even a bold move into Eswatini football.

As the PSL prepares to deliver its final verdict, all eyes are on MaMkhize. Will she gracefully bow out of South African football. Or is this just the beginning of a daring new venture across the border?
