Mamelodi Sundowns may already have a formidable squad at their disposal, but are showing no signs of slowing down.

Sundowns are known for their prowess in the transfer market and are believed to be targeting another top player.

Sundowns already have strong side

At the start of the current season, Sundowns splashed the cash on a number of players. Kegan Johannes, Asekho Tiwani, Kabomelo Kodisang, Arthur Sales and Iqraam Rayners. Having already got the latter from Stellenbosh FC, it was well documented that they missed on another in Jayden Adams. With that saga still up in the air, the Brazilians seem to have switched their attention to another midfielder.

According to Soccer-Laduma, Sundowns have also expressed an interest in Andre De Jong. The New Zealander has been one of the standout players for Stellenbosch since joining the club from Royal AM. In the past two seasons, he has played a major role in the club winning the Carling Knockout Cup and reaching the MTN8 final. Now with his star continuing to rise, it seems as if he may be destined for great fortunes.

Monitoring De Jong from Stellenbosch?

“Mamelodi Sundowns are understood to be monitoring Stellenbosch FC attacker Andre De Jong and a move has not been ruled out. Soccer-Laduma has been led to believe that the 28-year-old has attracted Sundowns interest, thanks to his standout performances for the Cape Winelands outfit. Sundowns are eyeing de Jong as a young player, who could make an immediate impact and fit into their new dynamic style of play. While Stellies have made it clear that De Jong is not for sale, the club has previously sold players like Iqraam Rayners and Deano van Rooyen” wrote the publication.

Should De Jong move to Sundowns, he would be competing with the likes of Themba Zwaneand Lucas Ribeiro.Additionally Tashreeq Matthews, Neo Maemaand Sphelele Mkhulisewill be looking to challenge too. Masandawana, would you welcome him at your club? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings below.
