Mama Joy is trending after her visuals of her in Mamelodi Sundowns colours went viral. One of the now-viral videos has gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped online.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS FANS SLAM MAMA JOY
In the now-viral video, she holds a poster that reads, “At Downs, we believe”. Against the post, Mamelodi Sundowns fans quickly poke fun at Mama Joy.
One user noted that she was switching allegiance to attend the FIFA Club World Cup.
One user commented: “She just wants a sponsored FIFA Club World Cup trip.’ Another user said, ‘She thinks we don’t see her.”
Another Mamelodi Sundowns fan added: “She is after our money.’ One user added, ‘She only wants to go to the Club World Cup and then return to where her heart is (Pirates).”
However, she has travelled globally as a superfan for football clubs and national teams in recent years.
With the biggest Club World Cup on the cards, will Sundowns tag her along? The FIFA Club World Cup tournament will be held in the US from 14 June to 13 July 2025.
Masandawana is the only Southern African team participating in the expanded club tournament.
Four African clubs, Sundowns, Wydad Athletic Club, and Esperance de Tunis, will participate in this year’s FIFA Club World Cup edition.
DID SHE DUMP ROYAL AM?
Surprisingly, Mamelodi Sundowns will be the third PSL team she has openly supported in the league. She had her thrust into the limelight as an Orlando Pirates super supporter.
However, in 2021, she dumped the club at the eleventh hour as she reintroduced herself as a Royal AM fan. A few years later, she found a new home, Mamelodi Sundowns.
Mama Joy said she wouldn’t dump Royal AM amid MaMkhize’s woes earlier this year. The club is now under curatorship and hasn’t played competitive football since last year.
Royal AM was implicated in MaMkhize’s R40 million debt, which has taken a toll on her club and other assets.
In January, Mama Joy said to the media, “I won’t dare jump the ship and run away from the Thwihli Thwahla troubles in their dark days because that’s where they need my support the most.”
However, she has not shared her story regarding the now-viral photos and clips.
