After being spotted supporting the team at the Loftus Versfeld, Royal AM supporter Mama Joy, born Joy Chauke, seems to have switched her allegiance to Mamelodi Sundowns.

MAMA JOY SPOTTED IN MAMELODI SUNDOWNS COLOURS

Mamelodi Sundowns won the top-of-the-table clash against Orlando Pirates 4-1. The match was capped with brilliance, with Lucas Ribeiro stealing the show with a brace and some Brazilian flair.

He netted in the 27th and 59th minutes. Grant Kekana, who opened the scoring in the 13th minute, was also joined by Mokoena on the scoresheet.

The win saw Mamelodi Sundowns extending their lead nine points ahead of Orlando Pirates. The Soweto giants now have 33 points from 14 games. However, they have a game in hand against Royal AM.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ new super fan, Mama Joy, was spotted in the stands in Masandawana regalia as she rallied behind the lads.

The now-viral photos and videos of Mama Joy have gained thousands of comments and reactions since they dropped online.

One user commented, ‘This is a free country. Let her support Sundowns. They are so desperate for supporters that they might buy her a car.’

Another user added, “She only wants to go to the Club World Cup and then return to where her heart is (Pirates).”

‘I WON’T DARE JUMP THE SHIP’

Surprisingly, Mamelodi Sundowns will be the third PSL team she has openly supported in the league. She had her thrust into the limelight as an Orlando Pirates super supporter.

However, in 2021, she dumped the club at the eleventh hour as she reintroduced herself as a Royal AM fan. A few years later, she found a new home, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mama Joy said she wouldn’t dump Royal AM amid MaMkhize’s woes earlier this year. The club is now under curatorship and hasn’t played competitive football since last year.

Royal AM was implicated in MaMkhize’s R40 million debt, which has taken a toll on her club and other assets.

Speaking to the media in January, Mama Joy said, “People don’t have peace. First, we are not in a good space, facing difficulties from all corners. But what remains is that I’m still with Thwihli Thwahla.”

Mama Joy added, “I won’t dare jump the ship and run away from the Thwihli Thwahla troubles in their dark days because that’s where they need my support the most.”

However, she has not shared her story regarding the now-viral photos and clips.
