Mama Joy has ‘no home’ after club news

Mama Joy – real name Joy Chauke – has bid Royal AM and its owner, Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize, a fond farewell after the club was officially expelled from the PSL.

The soccer supporter infamously left her home at Orlando Pirates in 2021 – after 30 years of loyal support – to back Twhili Thwala instead.

Meanwhile, MaMkhize has expressed interest in purchasing Eswatini club Pirates.

ROYAL AM EXPELLED FROM PSL

On Thursday, 10 April, the PSL Board of Governors officially voted Royal AM out of the association. This comes after the club was placed on curatorship amid MaMkhize’s R40 million tax evasion allegations.

According to reports, PSL voted 149 yes and 37 no in favour of expelling the club.

Many soccer fans are not surprised by the club’s dissolution, given that the billionaire businesswoman CEO has been under fire for her numerous clashes with the law, including fraud, forgery, and bribery.

MAMA JOY SAYS GOODBYE

Meanwhile, unofficial Royal AM ambassador Mama Joy tweeted an emotional post about the end of the road for the club.

Posting a collage of pics of her supporting Thwili Thwala, she shared: “It’s over…thanks Ma for giving me an opportunity to be Royal Am superfan. You treated me with dignity, with love, like one of your family members. I enjoyed [it] and thank other Royal Am supporters for showing me love. Royal Am was my family.”

Mama Joy went on to post that she now faced “no home” in the PSL.

In 2021, Mama Joy infamously ditched Orlando Pirates – after 30 years of royal support – to back Royal AM instead.

She told Newzroom Afrika at the time:  “As hard as it is, I am leaving Orlando Pirates. I want to support MaMkhize as a woman in football, and I want to support Royal AM.

“I realised that she loves soccer and had her ambitions set on playing in the PSL when she acquired the status of Bloemfontein Celtic, and that kind of passion and purpose really clinched it for me.”
