When reaching success in any profession, it is often assumed that one has things all figured out and that life might be a breeze, however, Inimba actress Lunathi Mampofu has recently confessed that this is not always quite the case.

Known for captivating the hearts of audiences with her acting abilities which have since earned her countless recognition, in the form of awards.

In a recent interview with the news and entertainment publication Sunday World, the prominent actress revealed that what people see is often not a true reflection of what her life was like. She explained that after winning two Royalty Soapie Awards, she was broke and needed to sell both her car and house so she could return home.

“I remember when I won those awards; I was out of work for months, and I was broke.

“I recently had lost my house, car, and flat. To return to Cape Town with my daughter, I had recently sold my car and put my belongings in storage,” Lunathi said.

This has since shifted her focus from focusing on glits and glamour, to fighting the urge to survive.

“I haven’t given myself time to celebrate because I’m always looking for more, not necessarily accolades, but you are working to earn money at the time.”

With every messy ordeal, there are often valuable lessons that can be learnt. This has since taught her how to be pro-active and plan.

“You need to experience the ups and downs in life. Now I know that as an actor I need to save and also be business-minded.”

While this may have been a difficult period for the young actress, she praises the God for his divine protection over her and her daughter.
