Lucas Ribeiro Costa set to leave Sundowns?

The PSL is a happier league with Lucas Ribeiro Costa in it.

The 26-year-old has seven goals and five assists in twelve games this season, proving to be lethal in front of goal while possessing the uncanny ability to provide a killer pass when the opportunity arises.

Costa was instrumental in Mamelodi Sundowns rampant 2023/24 campaign, clearing next-best Mamelodi Sundowns by twenty-three points.

Costa to Europe?

Brazilians coach Miguel Cardoso has hinted that Costa’s time in Pretoria could be short lived, saying, “one of the things I said to Lucas when I arrive here, knowing that he was performing well in the league, was to try to tell him that there are always things that can be done,

“So, try to make him understand the that he should have to continue to develop himself, [that] should be present everyday in his life,

“We work hard on the mindset of the players a lot. I think the message is entering most of them, with commitment, with the work, with the strong mindset of getting better, with respect for everyday work,

“Lucas can go further on. We should profit as much as possible while we can from him and let’s hope the club can keep him for long because he is a very important player,

“Lucas is a player to play at a high level, international, no doubt.”

Earlier in the season it was Championship side Burnley monitoring the dynamic attacker; but one can only imagine it’s in the top leagues where Costa belongs – and they could come calling if he puts on another prolific season.
