Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has revealed why Thembinkosi Lorch was loaned out to Wydad Casablanca.
The 31-year-old attacker joined his former coach Rulani Mokwena in Morocco this past weekend. ‘Nyoso’ has only made four league appearances this season for Masandawana before he left for Wydad.
“Lorch, as you can imagine, he was not happy here, and it’s important that players are happy, we cannot sustain players that are not in the context of the environment where they feel they can perform,” Cardoso said as per iDiski Times.
Lorch leaves Sundowns to join Wydad
“Sometimes it’s important to give them the air they need to breathe, so they can express and also have the game-time they need to play – Lorch is not a young player. In the last [few years], he’s not played that much, it was important to let him go [to play football].”
Lorch joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Orlando Pirates last year but the star found the going tough since Mokwena left the club in July. Lorch has made just four league appearances for Masandawana but failed to find the back of the net.
It was reported last year that Downs’ Sporting Director Flemming Berg was reportedly not in favour of adding the former PSL Footballer of the Year to the club. Having coached him at Pirates, Rulani brought Lorch to Sundowns and the winger had a decent start with the Pretoria giants.
Will Lorch rediscover his form in Morocco?
