The grass isn’t always greener on the other side but that cliche doesn’t necessarily apply in football. Just ask a few ex-Kaizer Chiefs players.
Dithejane happy he left Kaizer Chiefs
Puso Dithejane and Unathi Mdaka were released owing to misconduct over ball-boy duties in October 2023. Now 20, Dithejane has thrived in the number 10 role for TS Galaxy but can also operate in several roles on their right flank. He was integral to their sixth-place finish last term and this season he’s made 10 league appearances, notching up a goal and an assist.
Via Sunday World:
“I can say that me leaving Chiefs at that point in my career was a blessing in disguise. Because now I am making a name for myself. And I am Puso Dithejane because TS Galaxy took me in and gave me a home after the situation I was in,” he said.
“What has helped me to be the person and player I am today is our chairman, Mr Tim Sukazi. Because when I left Chiefs, he helped me a lot by taking me in and giving me an opportunity at Galaxy.
“The coaches and teammates at the club also contributed to my growth. That’s because they all comforted me after what happened at Chiefs. They told me that I should try and forget about what happened and focus on making a name for myself.
“So, I will forever be grateful to the chairman of TS Galaxy, the coaches, and my teammates.”
Next Kaizer Chiefs fixture
Chiefs will fancy their chances of making the next round of the Nedbank Cup after drawing Gauteng ABC Motsepe League outfit Free Agents. However, there are no guarantees in football, as some of their fans have reminded us:
“My team Chiefs is already out, y’all know we struggled over the years ngalama-small teams.”
“Starting Jan 26 I want to see new players donning KCFC jerseys on the field at FNB. Tired of being a laughing stock.”
Chiefs face Free Agents in the Round of 32 on Sunday 26 January at 18:00.
Amakhosi target is moving to Spain
According to Soccer-Laduma, Kaizer Chiefs have rejected the chance to recruit Ruben del Campo who will sign with Universidad Católica de Murcia Club de Fútbol in the lower reaches of Spanish football. Del Campo was a youth international for Switzerland and came through the development ranks at Atletico Madrid in the Spanish capital. The 24-year-old is yet to be capped by his country at senior level.
“Universidad Católica de Murcia Club de Fútbol has reached an agreement with Rubén del Campo Ferreiras (Fribourg, 2000) to join the university team until the summer of 2026. The forward joins the Club after his time at Atlético Ottawa, a team in the Canadian Premier League, where he has scored 14 goals in 33 games.” the club announced.
Do you think Chiefs should make an effort to bring Dithejane back to Naturena?
