One of the country’s biggest musical producers and composers Lebohang Morake popularly known as “Lebo M” has expressed excitement ahead of his return to home soil.
Known for his work on the iconic Disney film, ‘The Lion King’, as well as being the executive producer and composer of both the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Fifa World Cup, the 60-year-old musical icon has built himself quite a reputation in the international entertainment scene and is now ready to return and entertain some of his most devoted fans back home with an epic concert.
Speaking to the news and entertainment publication Daily Sun, he highlighted that he will be performing at the Artscape Opera house in Cape Town, where he will be performing between the 11 and 13 April 2025.
“It’s been 30 years since the Lion King’s journey, and I’ve been having an amazing year. Now we’ve announced my first concert in African history, it’ll be my first concert, and I am excited about that,” he told the publication.
While he has been back home for a while, he emphasised that having to plan one of the biggest concerts for a home crowd can be somewhat of a daunting experience, despite this he is excited about the challenge that was presented.
Given how renowned the Lion King production as well as its storyline has been, he hopes that the show’s debut on the African continent will inspire young and upcoming creatives.
The show will feature the soulful harmonies of the Ndlovu Youth Choir, the Soweto Spiritual Choir, as well as a 45-piece Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
