Looking ahead to the upcoming 2024 SASSA festive season grants, it’s business as usual for South Africa’s millions of beneficiaries. The South African Social Security Agency confirmed its November 2024 disbursement dates earlier this month. Likewise, following the finance minister’s Mid-Term Budget Statement (MTBS), we’ve extrapolated what the likely SASSA grant increases for 2025 will be.
Nevertheless, while we wait for official word on the fate of Old Age, Childcare, Disability and War Veterans grants in 2025, the agency reminds grant recipients that 2024 SASSA festive season grants will stay unchanged. As a result, here are the grant amounts and final payment dates before the end of the year …
2024 SASSA FESTIVE SEASON GRANTS
The festive season is a time for families to come together and take a well-earned break at the end of the year. However, government grant recipients will have to pace themselves over Christmas. Due to a stagnant economy and enduring cost-of-living crisis, Christmas festivities may have to be a muted affair this year …
That said, let’s list the payment dates and amounts for 2024 SASSA festive season grants:Â
- Tuesday 3 December 2024 – SASSA Older Persons Grants: R2 190 (over 60) and R2 210 (over 75).
- Wednesday 4 December 2024 – SASSA Disability Grants: R2 190.
- Thursday 5 December 2024 – SASSA Childcare Grants: R2 190 Child Dependency / Foster Care R1 180 / Child Support R530.
SECURE A SASSA GRANT NOW
It’s not yet known when Social Relief of Distress (SRD) will be paid at the end of November and next month. But we anticipate the dates to run roughly from 26 to 30 November. Nine-million recipients rely on the R370 as their only source of money. And, remarkably, the agency has to turn away nearly the same amount of applications each month.
Some SASSA applicants can wait up to three months to have their details verified. However, if and when you’re approved, you will be back-paid by the agency to the date of your first application. Beyond 2024 SASSA festive season grants, be sure to diarise the below payment dates till March 2025:
JANUARY 2025
- Older Persons Grants: Friday 3 January 2025.
- Disability Grants: Monday 6 January 2025.
- Children’s Grants: Tuesday 7 January 2025.
FEBRUARY 2025
- Older Persons Grants: Tuesday 4 February 2025.
- Disability Grants: Wednesday 5 February 2025.
- Children’s Grants: Thursday 6 February 2025.
MARCH 2025
- Older Persons Grants: Tuesday 4 March 2025.
- Disability Grants: Wednesday 5 March 2025.
- Children’s Grants: Thursday 6 March 2025.
*The agency reminds beneficiaries that payments may take 2-3 days to reflect in your bank account.
