Lady Gaga just stormed Saturday Night Live and the internet is still buzzing! The ‘Mother Monster’ pulled double duty on 8 March.

She not only hosted but also belted out two brand new tracks from her latest album, MAYHEM. Killahand Abracadabra.

LADY GAGA ON SNL

Lady Gaga kicked off the night with a monologue that had everyone in stitches. She poked fun at that SNL performance she did back in 2013 of Do What U Want with R. Kelly, according to Variety.

She even threw in a cheeky nod to winning a Razzie for Worst On-Screen Combo in Joker: Folie a Deux.

But it wasn’t just about the music. Lady Gaga also threw herself into the sketches, and many had a musical vibe.

In Wonderful Tonight, she and Bowen Yang were a couple who couldn’t help but burst into song on their first date, according to Deadline.

LADY GAGA SKETCHES

The duo reunited later in the show for No More Slay, a skit aimed at putting an end to all the ridiculous slang we use these days.

Gaga also starred in some pre-recorded sketches. One was a commercial for mascara that runs a little too long. The other was a short film about a teeny mouse.

THE ALBUM

Lady Gaga’s latest album, Mayhem, has been making waves since its release on 7 March, 2025, according to Rolling Stone.

The album is a vibrant blend of genres, ranging from synth-pop and disco to industrial pop and dance-pop.

It marks a return to Gaga’s pop roots reminiscent of her debut album The Fame

Despite being marketed with avant-garde imagery and dark, pulsing beats, Mayhem surprises fans. Its lively and melodic, which some critics have described as a “bait and switch.

The album features collaborations with notable producers like Andrew Watt.

A TRIPLE THREAT

The whole show was a rollercoaster of Gaga-ness. She proved once again that she can sing, act, and make us laugh, all while rocking some seriously outrageous outfits.

“Gaga is a chameleon,” said one South African fan on Facebook, “She can do anything!”

For us South Africans, it’s another reminder of Gaga’s global appeal. She’s a cultural phenomenon.
