Durban – The DA in KwaZulu-Natal is worried that fighting between parties in the national Government of National Unity (GNU) could break apart similar agreements in the province. While they welcome steps to solve the budget problems at national level, they fear continued tensions may still lead to the collapse of the GNU. This would threaten KZN’s own Government of Provincial Unity (GPU). The DA says it has built good relationships with its three GPU partners to create jobs and fight poverty in KZN.
Musa Dladla Region – The ANC Youth League in KZN is making progress in rebuilding its structures across the province. The league’s Lulama Mabunde says Musa Dladla will be the sixth of 11 regions to be relaunched, showing their steady progress toward renewal. “After a period of leadership problems and slow progress, the ANCYL in KwaZulu-Natal is now reclaiming its place as a strong voice for young people,” Mabunde said.
Nongoma – Traditional Affairs MEC Rev. Thulasizwe Buthelezi will visit Nongoma on Saturday to help families whose homes were destroyed by a giant crater and recent mudslides. The MEC will bring disaster officials and engineers to find out what caused the crater (likely geological problems) and to assist affected residents.
