KZN news bites: MK youth leader runs to Schabir Shaik after court arrest

Durban  – Former MK Party youth leader Bonginkosi Khanyile has asked convicted fraudster Schabir Shaik for help with lawyers after being arrested for missing court. Khanyile failed to show up at Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday for his July 2021 unrest case. His friend Breakdown Mathenjwa told Scrolla.Africa they tried to prove Khanyile was sick, but the court didn’t believe them and took away his R5,000 bail. They hope Shaik will help them on Wednesday.

Seme House – The ANC’s new KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Task Team will announce its plans on Wednesday. This came after the national ANC leaders changed the provincial structure. The announcement will explain their priorities for rebuilding the party in KZN and improving service delivery to communities.

Nquthu – Sassa has opened a new child support grant office at Charles James Memorial Hospital in Nquthu. Working with Home Affairs and the Health Department, they now allow new mothers to get birth certificates and apply for child grants in one place. This makes life easier for parents who don’t have to travel to different offices with their newborns.
