Nongoma: EFF leader Julius Malema is turning to the Shembe Church for prayers as his party faces serious problems in KwaZulu-Natal. Malema will visit the Nazareth Baptist Church at Langandonga Home in Nongoma on Saturday to worship with church members. He’s spending the whole weekend in KZN, where his party governs Nongoma municipality with the ANC and NFP. On Monday, he’ll address a Youth Day rally at King Zwelithini stadium in uMlazi, south of Durban.

Pietermaritzburg: The DA wants Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli to explain why he hired corrupt former Endumeni Municipal Manager Sithembiso Ntombela for a top job in his office. DA’s Tim Brauteseth says Ntombela quit his old job under a cloud of serious corruption charges. “He left Endumeni after a forensic investigation found he illegally gave a multimillion-rand security contract to FBL Security without following proper rules,” Brauteseth said. Endumeni is one of KZN’s worst-run municipalities, getting the lowest audit rating from Auditor-General Tsakani Maluleke.

Durban: KZN Legislature Speaker Nontembeko Boyce has been honoured as a champion for LGBTQ+ rights. She received the “Voice for Inclusion Award” at the first eThekwini Pride Recognition Awards on Thursday. The ceremony was held at Ushaka Marine Aquarium during Pride Month celebrations. The award celebrates people whose voices help shape policies for a fairer society.
