KZN news bites: IFP Mayor back in court for woman assault case

Escourt: The IFP Mayor of iNkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality in Escourt, near the Drakensberg in KwaZulu-Natal, is expected to return to court next month in connection with an assault case that took place earlier this year during a by-election.

Mayor Mduduzi Sobholenyoni Myeza allegedly beat Zandile Radebe, who is the IFP administrator, as they were fighting over party T-shirts. He is due back in court on the 8th of August.

Babanango: Fourteen suspects were arrested in a coordinated law enforcement operation conducted in the early hours of Wednesday morning after they were discovered with a dagga plantation and cultivation hub in the Springfield area, in the Babanango policing precinct. The recovered dagga is estimated to be worth hundreds of thousands of rands.

Dundee: It’s all systems go for the annual Dundee Rural Horse Riding July, which will take place on Saturday in Dundee, under uMzinyathi District Municipality.

The rural horse riding event is expected to kick off on Friday with a parade and a fashion show where local designers will showcase their designs.

The Dundee July was started in 2006 by the late MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture, Amichard Rajbansi, together with the then KZN Premier, Sbu Ndebele.
