After narrowly defeating Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, Orlando Piratesare now turning their attention to their rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Buccaneers secured their fourth consecutive Soweto Derby victory by beating Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Just when it seemed that the match would end in a draw, referee Masixole Bambiso awarded a penalty for a foul by Njabulo Blom on Relebohile Mofokeng in the 94th minute. Patrick Maswanganyi stepped up to convert the penalty, securing all three points for the Buccaneers.

This win puts Orlando Pirates just three points behind Sundowns in the Betway Premiership table. The Sea Robbers were at the top of the table for the first seven matches, but two defeats in their last five league games caused them to lose that position. However, the victory against Chiefs has reignited their pursuit of the championship.

The Buccaneers and Masandawana will go head-to-head on Saturday, 8 February, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. Kick off is for 15:30. A win for Pirates could see them overtake the Brazilians for first place.

The Buccaneers have not beaten Sundowns in the league in close to five years. the last time the two sides met was last year in the Nedbank Cup final which saw Pirates claim a 2-1 win.
