‘He’s also inconsistent because he thought ‘I play with Itu in the same team so I can’t take his advice,’ said the Chiefs legend.

Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune has criticised current Amakhosi number one Bruce Bvuma for failing to heed his advice and become a better ‘keeper.

Khune, in an interview with iDiski Times, says he does not understand why Bvuma has not made the kind of progress Ronwen Williams has.

Chiefs legend Khune – ‘He should have taken my advice’

“People were saying after Itumeleng Khune who’s going to take over (at Bafana)? I was grooming Ronwen. When he came to Bafana I told him we are not here to make friends,” said Khune.

“We are here to compete. You make me better, I make you better and we make the national team better.

“I fail to understand why Bruce Bvuma didn’t listen to that advice. Because now, the way he is struggling, he should have taken my advice when I gave it to him.

“He could … be one of the best candidates in the team and the national team. But now he’s also inconsistent because he thought ‘I play with Itu in the same team so I can’t take his advice’.”

‘Not consistent at all’

On Chiefs’ goalkeepers generally, Khune still believes Amakhosi need to find a true number one.

“They need to go get a goalkeeper who can give them 30-straight games in the league, that can play all the cups and even win cups for the club, a …goalkeeper who can play all the matches in a season.

“But now, what’s been happening? They’ve already used all their goalkeepers and they are not consistent at all.”
