Former Bafana Bafanacaptain Itumeleng Khune says Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari should focus on his path and not worry about those who came before him.
Khune (37) spent over 20 years with Amakhosi where he won more than 10 trophies with the Soweto giants. In June, Chiefs opted not to renew the keeper’s contract and he was replaced with Rwandan shot-stopper Ntwari.
The 25-year-old ex-TS Galaxy has leaked goals since joining Amakhosi.
“All the goalkeepers that are at Chiefs and in the Bafana team, Ronwen Williams is enjoying himself in the Bafana team and he never thought of Itumeleng Khune and other goalkeepers who came before me,” Khune told the media.
“But he is focusing on his own path and that is what I wish and hope for the Kaizer Chiefs goalkeepers, not to think too much of the goalkeepers who came before them. Let them focus on themselves, on their performances, work hard at training because in matches things just become automatic.
Khune on what Ntwari should do at Chiefs
“They happen as long as you put in your hard work at training. Hence, they say you play how you train,” Khune added.
“So, that is what I pray for, that Ntwari shouldn’t focus more on who came before him and who did what. He just has to focus on his game and on improving himself and the team and he will come right.”
Khune’s playing career appears to be over but the ex-Chiefs captain said he can still play another two years if given a chance.
Can Ntwari improve?
