Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has named the ONE local coach Mamelodi Sundowns could have went for.
Khanye was speaking to iDiskiTV on the back of Sundowns firing Manqoba Mngqithi and hiring Miguel Cardoso.
The now football pundit admitted he is not a fan of European coaches, especially at Sundowns after having been there before.
Khanye doesn’t believe Sundowns need a European coach after what they went through with the likes of Johan Neeskens.
The last time Sundowns had a coach from Europe was 12 years ago with Neeskens, and Khanye feels they are taking two steps backwards with Cardoso.
Nonetheless, he feels the sacking of Mngqithi was long overdue because he divided the Sundowns team and was bossy.
Furthermore, Khanye is of the view that Mngqithi wanted to dismantle everything that both Pitso Mosimane and Rulani Mokwena built at Sundowns.
Now, Khanye believes current Marumo Gallants coach Dan ‘Dance’ Malesela would have been a perfect candidate for the Sundowns job given the resources available at Chloorkop.
KHANYE PICKS DAN MALESELA AS LOCAL COACH TO LEAD SUNDOWNS
“Dan ‘Dance’ Malesela. He’s more or less a type of a coach similar to the likes of Pitso Mosimane and Rulani Mokwena,” said Khanye with confidence.
“He can coach a big team if he has the resources. Just pair him with the right person because Dan Dance, wherever he’s going, he doesn’t have the resources.
“He needs to be judged by being given the resources now. They gave Manqoba, and he had been there for how many seasons? You won the league as a back up coach, I need to be honest.
“Take nothing away from Manqoba, he has achieved as a coach for Sundowns but as a head coach? Nothing!”
WHICH ANY OTHER LOCAL COACH WOULD DO WELL AT CHLOORKOP?
