Kaz McFadden is back, and this time he’s hitting new comedic heights in the kykNET sitcom Banana Air.

Kaz is known for his roles in Poena, Ouboet & Wors, and fan-favourite films like Pawpaw vir my darling, Knysna, and Strikdas.

THE NEW CHARACTER

McFadden now takes on the skies as Brandt Vogel – a cocky new pilot with a penchant for two things: flying and women.

Banana Air, produced by Westel Productions, follows the chaotic lives of airline staff, according to TVSA.

It offers a comedic look at the ups and downs of both their professional and personal worlds.

Each episode promises a mix of turbulence, drama, and laugh-out-loud moments.

This is a combination that is sure to keep South African audiences entertained.

KAZ MCFADDEN AS VOGEL

Kaz describes Brandt Vogel as “very comfortable in his life.” He adds that Brandt’s only real interests are “flying and women.”

This is a combination that makes for an amusing, if predictable, personality, according to IMDB.

“He’s equally passionate about both,” says Kaz with a laugh. “I think, and hope, people like him. After all, he’s harmless – a running party trick.”

Working with Willie Esterhuizen, a veteran in South African comedy, allowed Kaz to focus purely on his performance.

KAZ MCFADDEN AND FULLY GETTING INTO THE ROLE

Kaz describes collaborating with Esterhuizen in the past as “like being paid to go on holiday – little pressure and lots of fun.”

This ease allowed him to fully immerse himself in Brandt’s comedic personality and focus on bringing out the character’s humorous quirks.

BANANA AIR

But Kaz’s role in Banana Air went beyond just acting. He also took on the responsibility of dialogue coaching for the show.

“It was a new and fun experience,” he explains.

“My main duty was to bring as many ideas to the table as possible along with my fellow actors and to explore ways to squeeze even more comedy out of the material.”

His behind-the-scenes involvement brought a unique dynamic to his role, adding an extra layer to his performance.

KAZ MCFADDEN AND SHOWMAX

In addition to his work on Banana Air, Kaz is keeping busy, according to the Citizen.

He is currently writing a youth drama for Showmax, aimed at a fresh, younger audience.

And fans won’t have to wait long to see him again, as he’s already confirmed his involvement in an upcoming youth drama and a crime series for Showmax.

“There’s also the dubbing of a Spanish series on the same platform and two radio dramas in the works,” Kaz reveals.

“My plan is to keep entertaining people on the box for a long time to come.”

WHERE TO WATCH

Banana Air airs every Monday at 20:00 on kykNET (DStv channel 144) and streams on DStv Catch Up.

Produced by Westel Productions, which brought South African viewers hits like Molly & Wors, Hester en Ester Bester, and Huis Lelieveld, the series promises to be a big success.

LOVE FOR LIFE

For those looking for a laugh this summer, Banana Air is a must-watch.

Kaz says, “Brandt is just a guy with a big love for life, and he’s bound to make you laugh, whether you’re ready or not.”
