Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Mayele, Basadien, Sithole, CAF Confederation Cup

Kaizer Chiefs are just one win away from ending their 10-year trophy drought.

After successfully overcoming the formidable Mamelodi Sundowns in the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup, Amakhosi now need to find a way to defeat their rivals, Orlando Pirates, in the final next month.

Winning against the Buccaneers could mark the club’s greatest achievement since they secured the league double in 2015.

A victory in the Nedbank Cup would also attract many players to Naturena. Fiston Mayele, a 30-year-old Congolese striker, has been impressive while playing for Egyptian side Pyramids.

He demonstrated his quality during the match against Pirates and could entice Kaizer Chiefs to invest in him in the upcoming season. Pyramids have reportedly set a price for their top striker, but if the Egyptian team wins the CAF Champions League, it is possible that Mayele could extend his stay. Fawaaz Basadien, the 28-year-old left-back from Stellenbosch, is having a remarkable season.

He was heavily linked to Kaizer Chiefs, but reports indicate that Stellenbosch turned down their offer.

According to Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi are looking to sign the Bafana Bafana midfielder Sphephelo ‘Yaya’ Sithole next season.

Kaizer Chiefs hunting quality players

“There are some decisions which the team (Chiefs) is believed to be taking because of the players they already have. You see, with Yaya (Sithole), there are about four players already in that position in Edson Castillo, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Samkelo Zwane, as well as Yusuf Maart if he will still be around. So, the club apparently feels that position will be overloaded, so that’s why they are believed to be withdrawing from signing Yaya,” the source told the publication.

If Kaizer Chiefs qualify for the Confederations Cup and claim the Nedbank Cup, they are likely to attract top players again.
