Kaizer Chiefs could look to make amends with one of their academy products in an effort to bring him back.

Chiefs have recently grown a reputation of giving talented players from their academy a chance with the first team.

One of the players who was touted with a bright future at Chiefs was Puso Dithejane. So promising a talent, he found himself making a debut for Bafana Bafana even before the Amakhosi first team. This during a COSAFA Cup tournament a couple of seasons back. That moment was set to spark his career into the big time. But still, he had to be patient and continued thriving for the DDC side.

Dithejane released by Chiefs for disciplinary issues

Dithejane never got to make his senior breakthrough for Chiefs due to disciplinary issues. He saw his deal with the club terminated, after refusing to be a ball boy for the first team. He then joined TS Galaxywhere Amakhosi received compensation. After growing in leaps and bounds at the Rockets, it is believed The Glamour Boys are now looking at bringing him back ‘home’.

According to Soccer-Laduma, Chiefs are doing their due diligence on how to re-sign Dithejane.

“You remember the Sporting Director (Kaizer Motaung Jnr) talked about short term and long term plans? One of the long term plans is believed to be working on bringing Puso (Dithejane) back to the team in the off season. We are all human and we make mistakes, and, so what if the team made a mistake and they want the player back? After all he is a Kaizer Chiefs product. He would also want to play for the club just like his former youth teammates who are currently doing well for the [rst team. Obviously, there is going to be competition from other clubs but Chiefs are looking at what they can do to bring him back. That’s their focus,” said one source.

Another source reference Kwinika being brought back to Chiefs as a sign of what could happen with Dithejane at Galaxy.

Looking to sign him back from Galaxy

“They have done something like this in the past. You know Zitha Kwinika was at the club before he left and they signed him with big money from Stellenbosch FC. So it wouldn’t be for the first time. But if you look at what Puso (Dithejane) can do it will be worth it to bring him back and join the youthful side to build the future for the team. I don’t think he will be that expensive as well,” said the source.

Dithejane is currently valued at R6 million according to transfermrkt.com but cost more to Chiefs. Amakhosi, would you like to see the youngster back at the club? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
