Kaizer Chiefs: Three Tanzanian targets confirmed

Kaizer Chiefs are preparing to spend more millions following another spending spree in January.

Over fifteen new players have entered Naturena since Nasreddine Nabi’s arrival last year in July; the Tunisian’s first response was to rip the walls down following the club’s worst-ever season.

Several high-profile figures – Khama Billiat and Itumeleng Khune – were shown the door, making way for a new crop of talent, including Gaston Sirino, Makabi Lilepo and Thabo Cele; the latter two being the most recent arrivals. All three have made instant impacts.

According to reports, Kaizer Chiefs show no signs of stopping in the upcoming winter window, with several African stars linked to the Soweto giants.

New signings inbound?

Tanzanian international Feisal Salum has been on Kaizer Chiefs’ radar since Nabi joined; the pair enjoyed two prolific seasons together at Young Africans, winning the double in both campaigns.

The Azam midfielder recently refused to sign a contract extension, making him a free agent after his deal concludes, fuelling speculation of a Nabi-Salum reunion.

Another Tanzanian Premier League player Kaizer Chiefs are monitoring is Young African’s forward Prince Dube:

“The club [Kaizer Chiefs] is evaluating the realistic chances of signing a striker, and as things stand, Prince [Dube] looks the most promising option. The other strikers they have been eyeing, such as Michael Olunga and Fiston Mayele, appear difficult to secure, which is why attention has shifted to Dube.”

Then there’s Dube’s teammate, Djigui Diarra, who has become one of AmaKhosi’s goalkeeping options:

“We believe that the club is still working on finding the right goalkeeper and that’s why they are still looking at all the different profiles of different goalkeepers,” a source confirmed.

“Yes, they have apparently shown interest in Toaster Nsabata and Xolani Ngcobo but they have not finalized next season’s signings yet and now they have inquired about Djigui (Diarra) from Yanga.”
