Kaizer Chiefs could be very active in the January transfer window, after an underwhelming season thus far.
Chiefs currently find themselves ninth on the Betway Premiership log, so far under new coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Chiefs need attacking reinforcements
That underwhelming statistic is also highlighted by the club’s failure to be prolific in front of goal. They have been leaking goals despite investing heavily in their defence as well. Furthermore, Nabi has never shied away from voicing the need for a strike. Currently, Chiefs are relying on Ranga Chivaviro and Ashley du Preez through the middle.
They have had to rely on the help of players like Gaston Sirino, Mfundo Vilakazi, Mduduzi Shabalalaand Wandile Duba. But that has not proven to be enough for Chiefs who continue to be linked with attackers ahead of January. The latest name to be linked with the Amakhosi is Magesi FCattacking midfielder and Orlando Pirates youth product Tshepo Kakora. According Soccer-Laduma, they could make a move for him in the upcoming window.
Magesi’s Kakora a target?
“The Siya crew has established that one of the players that has apparently made the shortlist is Magesi FC attacking midfielder Tshepo Kakorawho has scored two goals in 11 matches for the club. Although his underlying stats suggest he might not be effective, Kakora was one of the players who was instrumental in helping the rookies win the Carling Knockout Cup. It’s there where the 26-year-old has caught the attention of Chiefs. Amakhosi have placed the attacking midfielder on their wishlist.” Wrote the publication.
In attacking midfield, Chiefs currently have Shabalala and Sirino. At 26 Kakora would be coming in at his prime and would have to hit the ground running. Whether he is better than what they already have at their disposal, remains to be seen.
Chiefs fans do you think the club needs Kakora or someone more established?
