Kaizer Chiefs target foreign marksman, but he’s close to home!

Kaizer Chiefs are linked with a prolific foreign striker who’s earning his corn right here in the Betway Premiership.

Chiefs linked with Galaxy goal-getter Zajmovic

30-year-old Bosnian star Dzenan Zajmovic has been a late bloomer in his career. However, 2024-2025 season numbers of eight goals and three assists in 22 Betway Premiership appearances are indicative of a guy who can do a job in South Africa’s PSL. Only Sundowns pair Iqraam Rayners and Lucas Ribeiro Costa have scored more than the 1.90m tall marksman this term. His record of a direct goal contribution every other game has raised a few eyebrows.

“I think the chairman has proven a lot of times that he doesn’t stand in anyone’s way. You can see now with Samukelo Kabini’s move to Molde FK and Thato Khiba to Stellenbosch FC a few months ago,” Zajmovic said, via FARPost.

“Everybody wants to play for the title, and that’s the same case with me. I want to play for a title-winning team. So if I want to make a new big step, then it would have to be a club that plays for prizes.”

Latest Kaizer Chiefs rumours

28-year-old Fawaaz Basadien is one of the steadiest full-backs in South Africa. No wonder two of the big three clubs are taking a closer look.

“Chiefs interest was serious, but there was no agreement reached between the two clubs. Now it looks like Pirates are coming in strong for him. Don’t be surprised to see him join them when the season ends, but you never know in football because things change very quickly, and other clubs might come knocking as well,” a Citizen source added.
