Kaizer Chiefs suffer early blow for Sundowns clash

Kaizer Chiefs have suffered an early blow ahead of the much-anticipated clash with Mamelodi Sundowns on 1 March.

The two sides will meet in the second round of the Betway Premiership at Lucas Moripe Stadium on the said date.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:30.

KAIZER CHIEFS SUFFER SIRINO BLOW FOR SUNDOWNS GAME

Now, Kaizer Chiefs will go into that encounter in Tshwane without influential star attacker Gaston Sirino.

Sirino, who joined Chiefs at the start of the season from Sundowns, will be serving a two-match suspension.

And that is because he was shown a red card as Chiefs were hammered 4-1 by SuperSport United on Tuesday.

The Uruguayan attacker was shown his first yellow card for a deliberate handball before being punished for a second bookable offence later on.

With Chiefs not in action this weekend due to the cancelation of Royal AM matches, Sirino will have to wait a little longer for his return.

Amakhosi, eager to finish in a CAF spot this season, desperately need the points to achieve that mandate.

However, they will have to dig deep against champions elects Sundowns who still look unstoppable even with all the coaching changes.

As things stand, Chiefs are still lying sixth on the log with 25 points from 18 league matches.

The next 12 league games will be crucial for both the club and coach Nasreddine Nabi who is slowly losing the faith of some supporters.

Nabi’s team selection and substitutions are often questionable, especially in games that Chiefs either lost or drew.
