Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Thabo Cele is trending after his rumoured salary at the Glamour Boys was revealed.
The 28-year-old star joined Kaizer Chiefs on a three-year contract in January. However, his deal has an additional year option.

Thabo Cele was one of the stars Kaizer Chiefs added to beef up their squad as part of their overhaul. Despite the club struggling with form, their new signings have had moments of brilliance with Amakhosi.
However, the KwaMashu-born star has been trending after social media blogs revealed his alleged salary online. Rumour mill has it that Thabo Cele earns a whopping R480 000 per month.
Reports have it that this is a substantial increase from his previous alleged salary of R310 000 at Russia’s Fakel Voronezh.
However, despite the headlines, the club and the star have yet to confirm the reports that have since thrust them into top trends.
Over the years, players’ salaries have been kept under wraps, leaving many to guess.
However, the media often leaks them despite several clubs running down the alleged figures, which are always confidential.
Against the reports, Kaizer Chiefs has since been lauded as ‘Salary FC.’ In recent years, the club has made headlines with player salaries, and this is not the first time.
Earlier this year, SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews pulled a shocker when he revealed how Kaizer Chiefs managed to lure Tashreeq Morris from the Swanky Boys.
Speaking to the media, Matthews revealed that Morris was offered a better contract. Kaizer Chiefs seemingly doubled what he was earning at SuperSport United.
“Tashreeq Morris came at the age of 31 years old and said, ‘Kaizer Chiefs want me, and this is what they have offered me’,” he told the media.
SuperSport United CEO added, “They offered him more than what I was offering him. Should I have a miserable Tashreeq whose mind is somewhere else where he could be earning double what we were giving him?

After all, Thabo Cele is not the first Kaizer Chiefs star to have his rumoured salary leaked to the media.
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat once made headlines with his alleged salary amid his woes with the club.
During his last season with the club, the star was rumoured to earn around R800 000, and negotiations for his new contract failed because he ‘seemingly’ refused to take a pay cut.
Speaking to the media after leaving Kaizer Chiefs, Khama Billliat downplayed the alleged salary. He made it known it was a lie.
He noted that his salary was not near the reported salary. Could Thabo Cele be another victim of social media reports?
