Kaizer Chiefs are planning a major squad overhaul at the end of the season.
Kaizer Chiefswill look very different at the end of the season.
These SIXAmakhosi players contracts are set to expire following the commencement of the 2024/25 PSL season. Meaning, some of these men will be heading out of Naturena. Whilst, others will hope to earn contract extensions under Nasreddine Nabi.
CHIEFS SET FOR MAJOR SQUAD OVERHAUL
Over R50-million worth of Chiefs players are likely heading out of Naturena.
Moreover, Amakhosi are aiming to free up foreign spaces.
So, a couple of foreign-based players will be let go of at the end of the season. As things stand, Edmilson Dove and Fiacre Ntwari are the international players likely to leave. Furthermore, Amakhosi management aim to sign one or two international stars in the next PSL transfer window.
Meanwhile, Ranga Chivaviro, Edmilson Dove, George Matlou, Zitha Kwinika, Reeve Frosler and Yusuf Maarts contracts expire at the end of the season, according to KickOff.
As mentioned, Dove is likely to be released. Chivaviro, Matlou and Kwinika probable departures. Whilst, Frosler has already lined up interest from PSL rivals.
AMAKHOSI STARS FALL DOWN THE PECKING ORDER
Chivaviro has fallen out of favour with Nabi. In fact, he currently sits behind the likes of Ashley Du Preez, Glody Lilepo and Tashreeq Morris in the Amakhosi pecking order. Likewise, Matlou sits behind the likes of Yusuf Maart, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Edson Castillo and Gaston Sirino in the midfield pecking order.
Finally, defender Kwinika is unlikey to earn much playing time under Nabi. This is because the Chiefs head coach has opted for Inacio Miguel and Rushwin Dortley at the heart of defence with Given Msimango providing back-up. Additionally, Aden McCarthy finds himself in a similiar position except the club has plans to utilise him in the future, Meaning, he will likely be loaned out.
Therefore, a total of SEVENChiefs players face likely departures at the end of the season.
