Kaizer Chiefs suffered a huge defeat at home last night, loosing 4-1 to former employee Gavin Hunt.
The result roots AmaKhosi to sixth on the log, but an AmaZulu victory tonight could send them down to seventh with Stellenbosch two-points behind, but with three games in hand.
Nasreddine Nabi’s side were in fine form heading into the fixture, beating Chippa United 3-0 in the Nedbank Cup last weekend and pipping the Cape Winelands side 1-0 the week before.
However, it was not to be, Matsatsantsa the far superior side throughout the night, opening their account in the third minute thanks to Samir Nurkovic tap-in.
Kaizer Chiefs answered in the thirtieth minute, Makabi Lilepo scoring his second since arriving in late Janaury, but SuperSport United responded two-minutes later, AmaKhosi’s most recent sale, Christian Saile, providing the first-half blow.
The Pretoria outfit made it three goals to one in the 63rd minute, before rifling their fourth and final of the night with seven minutes left on the clock – final score, 4-1.
Nabi sacking imminent?
According to reports, several of Kaizer Chiefs executives where wanting Nabi out after their loss to Golden Arrows on January 12 – last night’s result could reimpose those opinions amongst AmaKhosi’s upper-echelon.
“There was a meeting just like after every game to analyse what went wrong against Golden Arrows but the issue of the coach (Nabi) was then discussed,” SoccerLaduma reported days after the Arrows defeat.
“Yes, there were two groups of minds. One saying they should give him games to prove himself before the end of the season and if he fails in those games then they part ways.
“While the other side still believes that he needs time to turn the fortunes around. That side believes he has brought some positivity to the team (Chiefs).”
Should Kaizer Chiefs let Nabi go?
