Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly increased their budget to R80 million for next season as they look to strengthen their squad.
It was reported that Amakhosispent R60 million this season to recruit players, which includes the likes of Thabo Cele, Miguel Inacio and Rushwin Dortley. The club finished a disappointing 10th in the 2023/24 season, forcing changes to be made in the squad.
With an improved budget, Kaizer Chiefs are now eighth in the Premiership after 22 matches. Under Nasreddine Nabi, Amakhosi have shown promise, but many feel the club needs to buy more quality players to compete for top honours.
Kaizer Chiefs increase transfer budget
According to Soccer Laduma, the club has increased their transfer budget to R80 million next season, raising it by R20 million.
“It’s believed that the club has already come up with the budget for next season, and it’s believed to be R80 million. You know last season they started with R50 million, which they raised to R60 million in the January transfer window, and that means they are raising it up by R20 million. It’s because they are looking at signing quality with most of the players that they are targeting. So their intentions are really looking good with the new budget,” the source told the publication.
Another informer mentioned that Kaizer Chiefs were looking to make four or five major signings with an improved budget.
“They have identified the areas of the players they need to sign, and they are believed to be looking at signing at least four to five players. They are looking at a goalkeeper, left-back, winger, central midfielder, and a striker, plus another one in a position or area the technical team will decide. So it’s a good budget if you look at it from that perspective,” the source added.
