Kaizer Chiefs revive interest in Bafana midfielder!

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi is reportedly eyeing European-based Bafana playmaker Yaya Sithole.

The Durban-born midfielder, bolstered by eighteen international caps, plays for Gil Vicente FC in Liga Portugal; before that, he was with Liga Portugal 2 side CD Tondela.

Sithole, who featured for Sporting Lisbon’s youth academy, has never played in the PSL, insinuating his playing style to be European-influenced, which could give Kaizer Chiefs an edge in midfield.

Rumours confirmed

“The coach has apparently noticed that signing players from rival teams locally is very difficult and that’s why they want to see if they can get players from outside South Africa,” SoccerLaduma stated.

“Of course, the club is still to get the players they need locally but if they can’t then they will go outside the country and that’s why they have reignited their interest in Yaya. He is actually back on their radar,

“They believe he can complement the team very well with the current midfielders of [Gaston] Sirino, [Mdu] Shabalala, [Ox] Mthethwa, [Thabo] Cele, [Yusuf] Maart and even [Edson] Castillo. So, they will be looking at how they can bring him in now.”

Another source confirmed the news, saying, “It’s a work in progress. They are building and they are working on letting other midfielders go while bringing in the ones they believe will help the team going forward from next season and one of the ones they are looking at bringing in is Sphephelo Sithole,

“They have been monitoring him for some time now and they are convinced he can fit into the team system.”

Should Kaizer Chiefs sign Sithole?
