Kaizer Chiefs ready to splash R10m on DRC International striker?

Kaizer Chiefs seem to have identified a new striker target to boost their squad in the current window.

It’s no secret that Chiefs are looking to bolster their attack in this coming window and may have a solution.

New coach Nasreddine Nabihas been crying out for a need to sign a quality and experienced striker. In the previous window, he was linked to his former trusted striker Fiston Mayele. There were even unconfirmed rumours that Chiefs made a R15 million bid for the player in that window. In the end, it was acknowledged by all parties that the deal would be difficult to push through. This because Pyramid FC were not willing to let go of their top goal scorer and asset after just one season.

Chiefs are already close to signing Morris

There were then rumours that Chiefs would come back and test the resolve of Pyramids with a R20 million offer. Those seem to have died down with no mention of Mayele being a target for a while now. That may be due to Amakhosi finding an alternative target instead! Last week this publication reported that they’re targeting former Switzerland youth International Ruben del Campo!

Now this publication reported on Friday that Chiefs will not be signing Del Campo. It has since been established that Amakhosi are set to sign Tashreeq Morrisfrom SuperSport United. That doesn’t look like the only striker that could enter Naturena, however.

According to iDiski Times, Chiefs are looking to lure DRC International striker Glody Lilepo from Valenciennes FC.

Chasing Lilepo!

“Kaizer Chiefs have emerged as a contender to sign DR Congo international forward Glody Lilepo. Reports in France emerged that Valenciennes FC are open to the sale of the 27-year-old who joined them from Sudanese giants Al Hilal in September 2023. iDiski Times contacted his representatives who refused to confirm nor deny the reports emanating in Foot Mercato, but insist there’s several clubs looking to lure him back to Africa. Club Africain, Kaizer Chiefs and a club in Ligue 2 are said to be the first to make contact with the club, with a deal ready to be sanctioned at €500,000.” Wrote the publication.
