Academy prospect Naledi Hlongwane appears set for top-flight soccer with Kaizer Chiefs.

The youngster has been patiently waiting for his chance to shine. AmaKhosi, reportedly preparing a three-year contract, believes the time is now.

“What I can tell you now is that the promotion process is as good as done,” SoccerLaduma reported.

“They have already allocated jersey number 35 to him and he travelled with the team to Durban for the game against Sekhukhune United. It was thought that he was supposed to have played the game, but they changed the decision in the last minute

“[Regarding] the contract, it’s an initial three-year senior team contract and it will run until June 2028. So, yes, things are working out for the youngsters at Chiefs right now.”

Hlongwane will soon join former teammate Mfundo Vilakazi, who is fast becoming a household name following his crucial last-minute winner against Sekhkukhune United, which single-handedly lifted Kaizer Chiefs to fifth in the PSL.

Hlongwane ready for the big leagues

The teenage sensation showcased his talents last month, earning Man of the Match honours against Magesi FC for the Carling All-Stars, scoring two goals in their 3-0 victory.

In the post-match interview, Hlongwane humbling stated his readiness to join Kaizer Chiefs first team, telling SABC Sports, “It’s a good experience for me, as a teenager. All I can say is that I am letting everything to be controlled by God. Mfundo, I can say I got used to training with him in the DDC before he was promoted to the first team,

“If it is time for me to step up and go to the train with the first team, I would go, I would take the opportunity with both hands.”

Is this a good move for Kaizer Chiefs?
