Kaizer Chiefs NEW goalkeeper set to leave after five games?

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly set to offload goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwariafter just one season.

The 25-year-old Rwandan international was signed from TS Galaxy before the start of the season as a replacement for departed long-serving keeper Itumeleng Khune. After five league matches, the keeper was injured and was replaced with Brandon Petersen and later Bruce Bvuma.

His start to his Amakhosi career did not go well, conceding more than 10 goals. Upon his return, Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi opted to bench him for experienced goalkeeper Bvuma.

According to The Citizen’s Mgosi Squad, Ntwari could move to Europe next season.

“There were European clubs that were interested in Ntwari even before he joined Chiefs, but he wanted to play for Chiefs. But now that things have not turned out the way he would have liked, he is keen to move to Europe,” said a source.

Do Kaizer Chiefs need another goalkeeper?

Amakhosi spent big on Ntwari and it won’t make sense for them to release him after just five matches. Bvuma has been good but the club needs a top keeper like Ronwen Williamsif they are to compete against the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

Chiefs have conceded 28 goals in the league this season and have the third-worst defensive record. With seven matches still to go, things can get worse for the Glamour Boys with their top centre back Rushwin Dortley injured.

In terms of getting a new goalkeeper, Kaizer Chiefs will look to bring either Stanley Nwabili from Chippa United or Ricardo Goss of SuperSport United.
