Kaizer Chiefs winger Pule Mmodi believes Amakhosi are playing well, but he has pinpointed two crucial issues that are slowing their progress, scoring goals and winning matches. Do you agree?

Chiefs are set to take on Golden Arrows in a Betway Premiership clash on Saturday, March 29, at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium. The battle for three points kicks off at 15:30.

Both teams are eager to make their mark, returning from a two-week FIFA international break with renewed determination. Kaizer Chiefs currently sit eighth on the league table with 29 points from 22 matches, while Arrows trail in 10th place with 24 points from 19 games.

Mmodi on Chiefs’ challenges: ‘We need to score and win’

The 32-year-old winger has highlighted scoring and consistency as the primary obstacles keeping the Glamour Boys from reaching their full potential.

“I think, to be fair, we’ve been playing good football, but we need to work on winning games and scoring goals,” Mmodi admitted, as quoted by FARPost.

“As a forward player, I know that I need to contribute more in terms of goals. We strive to win all the remaining games and give our best.

“For me, it’s all about hard work. Each time I play, I give all my best for the team because it’s only for 90 minutes, so as a player, you just have to give all your best, and after that, you will see the good results.”

Chiefs eye top-four finish: Realistic goal?

Despite their current position, Mmodi remains optimistic about Chiefs’ chances of breaking into the top four. With upcoming matches against higher-ranked teams, the opportunity to climb the standings remains within reach.

“We’re currently eighth on the table, but we still have a chance to finish in the top four,” he said. “We’ll be facing teams that are above us, and that’s a great opportunity for us to make up ground.”

Tough battle against Golden Arrows

Facing his former club won’t be an easy task, as Mmodi acknowledges the strength of the KZN-based side and the impact of their new coach, Manqoba Mngqithi.

“Golden Arrows is a good team, and with their new coach, they’ll likely have a different approach. However, we’re focused on our own game plan, and we’re confident that we can get a result,” Mmodi noted.

As Kaizer Chiefs prepare for this crucial match, the focus remains on execution, goal-scoring, and securing victories. A win against Arrows could be the turning point in their pursuit of a top-four finish.
