Kaizer Chiefs potential deal for Fiston Mayele is in jeopardy, as Pyramid’s secret move is exposed.
Mayele’s contract with the Egyptians nears its expiration in June next year, Pyramids are taking decisive steps to thwart potential suitors like Amakhosi. Sources close to the matter reveal that his club is determined to extend Mayele’s stay, making it increasingly difficult for clubs like Kaizer Chiefs to lure him away.
Pyramids pushes to secure Mayele until 2028
Pyramids FC is fully aware of the intense interest surrounding Mayele, particularly from Kaizer Chiefs, and other clubs are reportedly keen on securing his signature. In response, the Egyptian powerhouse is offering the 30-year-old striker a new contract, which would keep him at the club until June 2028.
A source close to the situation confirmed, “They are doing everything to keep him. They know there is interest not just from Kaizer Chiefs but other clubs as well, and they want to make sure they keep him. So, they have offered him a new two-year contract which increases his value as well.”
Chiefs refuse to back down in pursuit of Mayele
Despite Pyramids FC’s efforts to tie down the prolific forward, Kaizer Chiefs are not backing off in their pursuit. The source added, “Whether Pyramids are offering him a new two-year deal or not, Chiefs have made him their top target for next season after failing to sign him this season. So, although it’s believed that his team is offering him a new deal, Chiefs are still interested in signing him.”
It seems Pyramids FC’s strategy is to increase Mayele’s value in case they do part ways with him. By offering a more lucrative contract, they could raise his asking price. Making any future move more expensive for interested clubs.
Mayele’s impact on the field: Key player for Pyramids
Fiston Mayele, a former Young Africans SC star, has proven himself as a crucial asset for Pyramids FC. His consistent goal-scoring ability has made him one of the team’s top performers. One of his standout moments came during the CAF Champions League semi-final first leg. Where he scored a goal against Orlando Pirates in South Africa. Although the goal was ruled offside by VAR, Mayele’s clinical finishing and composure in high-pressure situations didn’t go unnoticed.
