Kaizer Chiefs league winner says club depends on 20-year-old

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger George Lebese has slammed the club for relying solely on this 20-year-old star.

Amakhosi has improved under new coach Nasreddine Nabithis season, but the club is still 10 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. Under the new leadership, the Glamour Boys have introduced seven new players, including Miguel Inacio, Rushwin Dortely, and Gaston Sirino.

Lebese, who spent a decade at Naturena, believes there’s too much pressure on Mduduzi Shabalala. The young Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has been exceptional this season under Nabi.

“I like Shabalala. One of the few players I spoke with,” said Lebese as per FARPost.

“But the difference now at Chiefs is we had you guys [Josta Dladla] with experience. You come in there. I would be on the bench for you, and you would tell me: ‘Look for you to improve, you must bench me’. They [current Chiefs youngsters] don’t have that.

Former Kaizer Chiefs star says Nabi needs experience

“It is all youngsters, and the weight is too much for him [Mdu Shabalala] alone to [carry the team]. We expect him to win the games, and there’s where I feel [experience is needed].” Lebese said.

Goerge Lebese made over 170 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs. In those games, he scored 25 goals and provided 22 assists.

Kaizer Chiefs have at least five or six players in their lineup who are less than 25 years of age. The club parted ways with experienced players such as Sfiso Hlanti, Keagan Dolly and Siyethemba Sithebe.
