Kaizer Chiefscould be set to undergo their biggest squad overhaul yet at the end of the current season.
Chiefs have once again struggled to mount any challenge this season and their player turnover could be brutal!
Three seasons go, Chiefs cleared out most of its long-serving players from previous regimes. This in an effort to give then incoming coach Arthur Zwane a fresh start with some new players. Unfortunately though, that didn’t quite workout. The ensuing transfer windows have also been the same, including the two from this season.
Chiefs signings have been hit and miss
Coach Nasreddine Nabihas been backed with 10 signings to kickstart his Chiefs journey. But some of those players have flattered to deceive and find themselves on the brink of a premature exit. The likes of Fiacre Ntwari and Bradley Cross have struggled with the weight of the Amakhosi badge. Bongani Sam on the other hand has not even earned a place in the match day squad.
The one player that Chiefs fans were excited to see the club sign was academy product Njabulo Blom. After coming up via a loan deal from MLSside St Louis City, it was a surprise to see him struggle this much on home soil. Now according to FARPost, he has only two months to rescue hopes of a permanent return.
Blom has disappointed upon his return
“He was expected to lead the team (Chiefs) with his experience and understanding of the environment. However, Blom has disappointed since his return from the MLS, struggling to knuckle down a starting place in coach Nabi’s team. The club is not convinced just as yet by his performances and will require him to step up in the remaining games of the season. He still has a chance to prove himself in the remaining games to earn a contract extension,” said the source to the same publication.
